COVD-19: NEW THREATHS, NEW OPPORTUNITIES?

The unexpected break-out and global spread of the pandemic labelled COVD-19 is posing extremely serious challenges for the whole economy. In such a difficult time, nonetheless, crowdfunding has proven to be a trusted and reliable tool to support civic and social-grounded initiatives and donations.

In order to capture the market perceptions on the impact of COVID-19 on the crowdfunding industry, BLUE CROWDFUNDING project partner European Crowdfunding Network conducted a short and indicative survey amongst crowdfunding platforms operating in Europe. Results show some divergences among industry segments, still the overall tendence is to mitigate and take stance against the unavoidable loss in terms of capital and deal flow.

Like for most of projects taking place in the MED area, BLUE CROWDFUNDING activities have slowed down and physical meetings suspended or posponed. The project partners are nonetheless committed to keep up with planned activities and to respect the preparation of deliverables in the pipeline, also opting for alternative solutions as online materials and processes.

The hope is that European people learn in terms of cohesion, collaboration and solidarity - and that crowdfunding will help support relevant attempts aimed at providing relief to citizens, businesses and the economy at large during the aftermath of COVID-19.
